In January Mattijs started his new job as Project Manager at Convergence. We would like to introduce you to our new team member.
Tell us something about yourself
I am Mattijs de Gruijter and I am 26. I grew up in Wageningen and came to Enschede to study mechanical engineering. I like to do all kinds of sports (running, crossfit, football, hockey) but most of all, I like snowboarding! Other hobbies include reading and (board-)games. After graduating, I worked at Stork Thermeq for 2 years. After that I decided I wanted to work for a smaller company, and so here I am!
What is your role within Convergence?
On paper I handle everything between receiving the purchase order and start of assembly: buying the right components for the project, making sure they are delivered on the right date and scheduling production so the inspector can be delivered on time. I also get to help with assembly, electric connections and testing. This really helps to get to know the products and to make more realistic schedules.
What qualities do you need to do this job well?
You must be able to withstand Mark’s jokes, and I’m not only talking about Fridays. Other than that: good communication skills, being able to work independently and don’t be afraid to ask questions. And of course, be a team player, no 9 to 5 mentality, having an eye for detail and all the other buzz words you can think of!
Finish the sentence: you are not satisfied until…
We reverse global warming to global cooling so I can snowboard all year. Also mountains. We would need some mountains.
