Niek has been working for Convergence as an Assembly Engineer since 2012. If any question or problem occur, you most probably talk to Niek as he is also the helping hand behind the Convergence Helpdesk.
Tell us something about yourself.
I was born 26 years ago and grew up in Deventer (NL). Ever since I was young I had a specific interest for technology and electronics. When I was young I used to take things apart to see how it works.
I finished my Automation and Power Engineering education, after which I started working for a company who mainly designed measurement- and control systems for pools and slides. For a short period of time I was ‘the guy who tested slides for a job’.
After a year I came to know about Convergence and they were looking for someone with electrical knowledge and more. I then applied for a job, and got it!
What is your role within Convergence?
When I started working for Convergence, I mainly focused on assembling the Convergence Inspectors and then subjected the Inspectors to a quality control. I now am responsible for the helpdesk when customers have technical problems or questions about their system.
When the system is finished and passed the quality control, we deliver the system and if required I visit the customer to give a product training.
What qualities do you need to do this job well?
To do this job well, you need a certain amount of perseverance because you can meet some challenges when assembling and testing a system. Next to that you need to be inquisitive and able to work independent.
And last, you need to master the English language as our customers come from all over the world.
Finish the sentence: you are not satisfied until…
A Convergence Inspector is working for a full 100% before it leaves the building.
